Toast two thick slices of bread until perfectly crisp and golden brown.
Slice the avocado in half and remove the pit. Scoop the avocado onto the toast and mash it with a fork. For a smoother consistency, mash the avocado in a bowl before spreading it onto the toast.
Add salt to taste over the smashed avocado. Slice the tomatoes into bite-sized pieces and add them on top. Then, sprinkle on the garlic salt and red pepper flakes.
Add on the fresh basil leaves (whole or chopped). Finally, top the avocado toast with a sprinkle of feta cheese crumbles.
Notes
Toasting bread in a toaster oven or conventional oven (with the broil setting) is a great alternative to a toaster. These work well for larger, thicker slices of bread.
Use a ripe avocado for this recipe. Ripe avocados are usually dark green to black and feel slightly soft without feeling mushy. If the small stem comes off easily, revealing green underneath, it's ready to eat.
