Classic Brunch Toast
Call me basic, but I’ve been eating avocado toast every morning for years, and I’m still not sick of it! There is something about it that keeps me coming back each day when I wake up. I’ve had a lot of time to experiment with toast, and this sourdough avocado toast with everything bagel seasoning is a brunch staple.
If you’ve never made toast with sourdough bread, you are in for a treat. Once I tried it, I was completely hooked.
Ingredients
For this recipe, you’ll need just 6 simple ingredients:
Sourdough bread: I usually use store-bought sourdough because it’s fast and easy to pick up when I’m grocery shopping. You can find it in the bakery/bread section.
Avocado: This recipe makes two slices of sourdough toast, which can be made with one ripe avocado. When shopping for avocados, remember that ripe avocados will be soft but not mushy. If you’re planning on using the avocado that day or the next, make sure to avoid the avocados that are super firm/hard.
Cherry tomatoes: When I make my avocado toast with everything bagel seasoning, I use approximately 6 cherry tomatoes. You can add as many or as few as you want.
Micro greens: You can find micro greens at most whole foods stores. I use a micro kale blend that I buy at Sprouts, but most micro green variations work perfectly. (You may want to avoid micro arugula unless you are familiar with arugula and enjoy the strong flavor.)
Everything bagel seasoning: This seasoning can be found at various grocery stores under different names including “Everything Bagel” and “Everything but the Bagel” seasoning. You can also find it on amazon.
Sea salt (optional): I like to add a dash of sea salt in addition to the everything bagel seasoning for some added flavor. The additional salt can help bring out the taste of the tomatoes and avocado, but if you prefer less salt, this ingredient is optional.

How To Make Avocado Toast
Start by toasting two slices of sourdough bread. This can be done using a toaster, a toaster oven, or a regular oven using the broil setting. Remove the toasted bread and place it on a plate to assemble your toast.
Slice one avocado down the middle and remove the pit. Use a fork or spoon to remove the inside of the avocado and place it in a bowl.
Mash the avocado with the fork until it is as smooth or chunky as you would like. Spread the mashed avocado evenly on the two slices of toast.
Gather about 6 cherry tomatoes and cut them into halves. (You can always add more or less tomatoes depending on your preference.) Place the tomatoes on top of the mashed avocado.
Sprinkle sea salt and everything bagel seasoning over the avocado and tomatoes. Finally, add your micro greens to the top as desired. Now you have two delicious slices of avocado toast on sourdough with everything bagel seasoning to top it off.
Recipe Tips and Tricks
Use the avocado tool: This amazing little kitchen gadget linked above is the best thing that ever happened to me when avocados are concerned. The best part is the tool that removes the pit of an avocado quickly and easily.
Perfectly ripe tomatoes: For the best taste, use ripe cherry tomatoes that are firm to the touch. If your tomatoes are squishy in any way, they may have a bitter flavor.
Get your avocados ripe fast: If you want to make avocado toast, but your avocados aren’t ripe, don’t worry! You can ripen avocados quickly by placing them in a brown paper sack or in a bowl with other fruit like bananas. Leave them on the counter overnight, and in the morning your avocados will be nice and soft.
